The art of Temari is a centuries-old Japanese craft. Originally created as folk toys, they evolved into intricate works of art as silk and decorative threads became more accessible.
My journey began in 2008 in rural Japan, inspired by a traditional temari found in a family home. What started as a meditative hobby grew into an 18-year dedication to mastering the craft's complex geometric logic. While temari are traditionally large ornaments for the home, the vision for Miwa Temari was to translate this heritage into a modern, wearable form.
I hold the title of Master Instructor (Shihan), certified by the Japan Temari Association (日本てまりの会). This level of mastery ensures that each piece of jewelry is created with the highest standard of traditional Japanese craftsmanship.

The name Miwa was born from a deep personal connection, created by combining characters from the names of my children. They have been the greatest supporters of my passion for nearly two decades.
In moments of artistic doubt—when I feel a piece has not met my standards and should be cast aside—it is my children who reach out to keep them, finding beauty in every stitch. Their encouragement is the heart of my creative process.
In choosing the Kanji for the brand, I selected 美 (Mi - Beauty) and 和 (Wa - Harmony/Japan). These characters represent both the aesthetic of the jewelry and the spirit of the craft. Miwa Temari is a tribute to the family that sustains my work and a wish for harmony in the lives of those who wear it.
